A native of
Edinburgh
, he came to Kilsyth in February, 1991.
He was ordained in 1973, and spent four years in
Livingston
.
He then studied in
Rome
for two years,
before returning to
Scotland
to teach young men in training for the priesthood,
first in the Borders then in
Edinburgh
.
He returned to parish work in 1991 when he came to Kilsyth.
The highlight of his time here was the £1.25 million
refurbishment of the church in 2000. He was also involved
with encouraging parishioners to develop and exercise more
pastoral responsibility. He was closely involved with the
Justice and Peace group, and with inter-church activities in
Kilsyth. He and the parishioners were also planning for the
provision of a new church hall.
Fr Hand was elevated to Monsignor in 2010. |
